I can’t even put my experience into words right now. 33.5 miles through seven vegetation zones in four days. To a highest point at 3056 feet over the MacKinnon pass. Traveling and sharing bunk rooms with 39 other people.
I need to sleep a long while. Get up and eat some fried eggs, drink good coffee at the Sandfly Cafe. Go through my photos and spend hours writing.
But I will say this. The third day of the hike, passing over the MacKinnon Pass, to the Sutherland Falls and ending at Dumpling Hut was one of the most spectacular days of my life. I spent from dawn until dusk walking the track and there wasn’t a moment that I wasn’t enthralled by what I was seeing and feeling.
Here I am at the end. Sandfy Point. I found that walking stick halfway through the last day. It was the perfect companion. Crooked just like me.
